HELP!
Date
February 2025
“HELP! I played video games past my bedtime and now I’m stuck in the TV and must play minigames to escape” is a microgame compilation made for a 48 hour game jam. We were a team of three and each served as programmers, designers, and artists for the game.
I created two of the six games featured in the collection. One is a platformer where a snake flees an unfriendly ball of light. While we didn’t lean entirely into the angle of weird, I developed this concept because I didn’t want or need it to make sense in the context of this project. The microgame gave me an opportunity to work with particle effects and platforming physics again.
I also created a game where an angry red man jumps and shrinks to dodge a barrage of fireballs. I didn’t get the opportunity to expand the gameplay as much as I would have liked, nor was there a chance to better balance its difficulty, but I enjoy the basic system I created. My other contributions to the game included work on the intro and dialogue, and connecting the game’s scenes with the static effect.
